Fans are invited to celebrate the iconic concert film and album with bespoke whiskey orchestrated by the late Robbie Robertson
SHOREHAM, VT (October 6, 2023) — WhistlePig Whiskey and Robbie Robertson are inviting fans to celebrate this year’s Thanksgiving in keeping with the spirit of the legendary concert film and album The Last Waltz with new WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend. Created with the same collaborative mindset as the concert itself, WhistlePig and Robbie Robertson have come together to bring you the perfect accompaniment to fans’ traditional Thanksgiving viewings of the iconic concert film and album The Last Waltz, which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. To further celebrate this landmark event, WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend bottles have been dipped in wax that includes melted vinyl from the album, to create a truly commemorative keepsake.
WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend harmonizes the heartfelt notes of The Band with the complexity of three Old World Wine barrels, including Port (19%), Madeira (76%), and Sauternes (05%). Crafted under Robbie Robertson’s watchful eye, this unique blend orchestrates a medley of flavors including ripe citrus and cedar followed by walnut, oak tannin, with a pinch of crushed white pepper. Just like WhistlePig’s signature Old World Rye Aged 12 Years, the rich fruit and spice notes in Robbie’s Blend are great to pair with your Thanksgiving fare.
“Watching The Last Waltz on Thanksgiving is a tradition for many. We’re humbled to give fans another way to celebrate The Last Waltz’s legacy this season with a new whiskey created in collaboration with Robbie himself,” said Mitch Mahar, WhistlePig Distiller. “With his personal touches, Robbie’s Blend offers a bespoke whiskey that gives you a symphony of flavor in every sip.”
WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend is available for fans in tandem with The Last Waltz Vinyl re-release, launching in celebration of the concert film and album’s 45th anniversary, in record stores across the nation. Both drop on October 6, with a release party in Nashville at Analog, hosted by rights and branding company Iconoclast, with tastings, guest speakers, and exclusive merchandise, just after The Last Waltz GRAMMY Museum Screening in Los Angeles on October 5. On November 5, The Last Waltz will also be screened as a Fathom Event at over 600 theaters nationwide.
“Thanksgiving is a perfect encapsulation of everything The Last Waltz stood for: a collaborative, familial and inclusive spirit that you could feel through the speakers,” said Olivier Chastan, founder of Iconoclast, Whistlepig’s partner in releasing this commemorative blend. “We are continuing this spirit of collaboration by bringing together Robbie – a consummate tastemaker – and WhistlePig – a whiskey reserved for those with the finest taste – to create WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend.”
WhistlePig 12 Rye Whiskey – Robbie’s Blend will be available for purchase online at shop.whistlepigwhiskey.com on October 6 for $175 MSRP per 750ml bottle and sold in select stores across Tennessee this fall. Fans can also visit www.TheLastWaltz.com to find The Last Waltz re-release and other memorabilia for The Band.
